Last November we visited the Lumiere Festival in Durham, where for four nights, Durham City is transformed by a series of light installations and projections. After a bit of a disappointing start to the night in a desperate attempt to find a car parking space and joining a sea of people walking down to the bridge, it eventually all seemed worth while by the second half of the evening. Walking inside Durham Cathedral to an interior filled with candlelight right up to the ceiling, leading on to what can only be described as a garden of fire created by Fire alchemists Compagnie Carabosse was a particular highlight.
The Lumiere Festival will be returning to Durham City on November 14th to 17th and is definitely worth a visit. For more information visit http://www.lumiere-festival.com/
